Description
Liturgical style and practice
We cherish the reverent yet relaxed expression of worship that follows the traditional Episcopal liturgy. We generally use Rite II weekly for Eucharist.
We appreciate the musical ministry of our small, but committed choir, that uses various sources for hymns and anthems.
Strengths
St. Anne’s parishioners value the welcoming, friendly atmosphere of the church. “Family” is often used to describe the congregation. We have a relaxed atmosphere, free of pretense.
Thanks to the routine rotation of military families into the community, we are accustomed to opening our doors and our hearts to newcomers. Our congregation is comprised of parishioners who have lived and worked around the world, as well as life-long North Carolinians. This gives us continuity, stability and an influx of new ideas and energy.
The congregation is in agreement that our biggest strengths are the Day School, the Unseen Guest Food Pantry, our diverse congregation, faithful attendance, our beautiful sanctuary, welcoming atmosphere, traditional services, our organ, open communication and the choir.
Challenges
St. Anne’s biggest challenge at the moment is to grow the church both in terms of membership and in stewardship/financial strength. Located in a military host community, a challenge for St. Anne’s is the transient nature and young age of military servicemen/women and their families. For more information on these opportunities for growth, please visit the parish profile on our website. https://stannesjaxnc.org
Comments
We are seeking a visionary rector who empowers others and develops church leadership and community.
A rector to love us and to help us grow in faith. Someone we will love and support in ministry.

Members of the congregation expressed a desire for a spiritually and biblically grounded leader who:
- who gives engaging sermons;
- participates in community outreach;
- provides pastoral care;
- teaches and practices year-round stewardship;
- demonstrates strong communication skills;
- listens;
- who is a solid administrator;
- leads us to build a strong Christian education program for our youth and adult members.
St. Anne's is excited for the possibilities and opportunities that a change in leadership will provide.
