Liturgical style and practice
Broad church
Strengths
Well-maintained campus due to a large endowment which enables them to maintain the buildings, have a full-time priest. They have strong lay leadership and are engaged in outreach ministries.
They have a history of mutual ministry which enabled them to maintain the life of the parish during the priest's sabbatical and subsequent interim period. They hope to maintain that level of lay engagement.
Parish has assumed responsibility for a nearby chapel, St. John's Church in Highgate Falls, which has no active members. They maintain the property and offer occasional services at the church but are exploring possible ministry there or letting it revert to the diocese.
Challenges
They need guidance on how to best utilize the endowment now that they have completed major renovations to the buildings. The endowment is from a recent bequest so they are still learning how to manage a multi-million dollar endowment.
They have a core of leaders who need help with incorporating new leaders and utilizing their gifts and skills.
Comments
They need a seasoned priest who can manage strong personalities, empower others in the parish to exercise their ministries and who can help them foster a generous heart and find a vision for the endowment funds entrusted to them that furthers the mission of the church. Potential for doing a community-wide or regional ministry. This is a place with opportunity to be creative, foster a wider ministry than is currently in place. The congregation is ready to explore options.
