Description
Liturgical style and practice
Our worship makes use as needed of varying combinations of liturgical styles including bells, sung mass, incense, gospel, African, and traditional music. Sometimes our services are Rite Two, and while we use hymns from many sources our favorite is the Hymnal 1982.
Strengths
We care for our spiritual needs through Bible study, Prayer Partners, and our Growing in Christ Ministry. We see ourselves as one big family that seeks the well-being of our members through regular communication and visitation. We also have a Food Cupboard which provides a variety of nutritional foods to those in need both in our congregation and community. We practice mutual skill sharing and embrace all people of all walks of life, nationality, gender identity, sexual identity and race.
Challenges
We are centered in a diverse and changing neighborhood; and facing many of the struggles of other congregations to take what we learned in the pandemic and let it nourish us for new ways to be Jesus' hands here.
Comments
The congregation of St. Andrew and St. Monica is diverse and prayerful, and filled with a collaborative and joyful spirit. They are a diverse congregation who take the work of caregiving as vital to their discipleship. We know the power of fellowship, prayer, and study in the walk of faith. It is a community parish more than it is a neighborhood church, and we wonder if the call of Jesus is to be both.
