Liturgical style and practice
Rite two, traditional, fairly formal context. Strong appreciation for music with openness to other styles (not all Hymnal 1982).
Strengths
St. Tim's is a lovely congregation nestled in Perrysburg, a suburb outside of Toledo, near the Michigan border. They have strong lay leadership and have shepherded several major projects along in the interim period. They've finished a capital campaign. Part of that campaign includes an exciting project that's seeking to turn the parish kitchen into a commercial-grade kitchen that can serve the wider community. This ministry will be called Timothy's Perrysburg Kitchen and it will have two goals: reduce food insecurity & reduce food waste. It will be operated by a professionally trained chef & volunteers. Its goal will be to transform food that would be wasted into high quality, frozen meals to be distributed by community partners to people experiencing food insecurity.
These strengths indicate that there's a willingness to grow, think outside the box, and serve the community.
Challenges
The congregation has experienced steady decline in membership over the past 20 years. The challenges of covid, and the rapid changes in ministry that arose in that time, brought conflicts to the surface.
One challenge is helping the congregation see these challenges and work to address them in a faithful and strategic way.
