Liturgical style and practice
St. Peter’s has a traditional Sunday service based on the Book of Common Prayer, Rite II. Music is a large part of our service with traditional hymns and anthems. Our sermons are scripture based but many in our congregation find additional understanding when a sermon can be related to our current needs, our community and our Church culture. Throughout the year, St.Peter’s provides a variety of services that are liturgically based but support the needs of our community. Examples would be our Pride Service in June, our Blessing of the Animals in October, and our Blue Christmas Service in December to support families in our church who have lost loved ones
Lots of community engagement - Cropwalk, Thanksgiving bags, huge community craft fair, book clubs, Christmas baskets, end hunger community programs, Harvest hosting.
Music - choir and congregational singing, concerts for the community
Spiritual practice and faith formation - experience with RenewalWorks, prayer and retreat offerings, lectio divina, sermons with life application, faith formation for all ages.
Stable and effective clergy and lay leadership over the years, no entrenched conflict.
Flexible worship space with chairs and open barn beams. Well cared for physical plant.
Connecting with growth in the surrounding community
Continuing to strengthen lay leadership and spiritual development
Housing shortages and growing unhoused population
St. Peter's is located in a suburban area with a rural feel - 20 minutes from Manchester, NH to the north, and 50 minutes from Boston, MA to the south. Londonderry is a growing town with a mix of retirees, young families, and professionals who commute to Boston for work. St. Peter's has built inter-faith relationships, did the RenewalWorks program and committed to deeper spiritual practices, and has strong ties to the wider community. St. Peter's Rector left suddenly in July 2023 for personal reasons and St. Peter's has mourned, but lay leadership has not missed a step in continuing their ministry and their care for each other.
