Liturgical style and practice

St. Michael's is moderately high church for our region of the state. Music and preaching are extremely important to the congregation in this college town.

St. Michael's recently completed the RenewalWorks programmed are working on ways to expand, increase, deepen and enhance their spiritual life. They also are in the midst of a multi-year capital upgrade program, including extensive work on the undercroft and entrances to increase accessibility. The parish has strong community ties with the State University of New York at Geneseo (across the street(, with a senior housing  complex in the town, and with groups of migrant farm workers who use the parish for various programs.

St. Michael's is located in the middle of a lively and growing village.  It is surrounded, however, by farming areas that have a fair amount of poverty.  Responding effectively to the poverty is one of the ways that they seek to grow.

St. Michael's also seeks to grow into more collaborative leadership with its next priest.

This is a terrific parish. They are financially strong, self-aware and conflict free.  They are eager to move forward into the next phase of their ministry and thankful to God for the ways in which ministry continues in their midst.
