Description

Strengths

St. Matthew's is a multi-generational parish in the heart of the city of Kenosha, the fourth largest city in the state of Wisconsin.  The parish is very much tied into the life of the community, and has a heart for outreach and service.  There is a strong emphasis on worship and good (but not fussy) liturgy, along with a desire to offer meaningful formation opportunities.  There's a strong history of lay ministry and leadership. In many ways this is a a parish poised for renewal and new life.

A rectory is available if needed, but living in the rectory is not a requirement for the position - it's an option.  It is well maintained and currently being used as a rental property.  Should the next rector decide to live in the rectory, that can easily be an option.

Challenges

Like many parishes, St. Matthew's is seeking to sustain vibrant outreach ministries, grow the congregation, and care for its members and facilities.  There's a hunger for more adult, youth and child formation opportunities.  None of these are insurmountable; these are challenges faced by any Episcopal parish that is experiencing the reality of pandemic and its aftermath and still looking ahead with a sense of optimism and hope.
