Liturgical style and practice
St. Mary's has a BCP Rite II based liturgy. They are broad church but in the past have been open to experimenting with a variety of liturgical materials.
Strengths
Our parishioners are generous with their time, talent and treasure. We are a financially stable parish. Outreach is an integral part of our DNA. We are blessed with an experienced and hard-working staff. We are located in a seasonal, unique, and vibrant community. Our parishioners come from near and far, some year-round residents of the Cape and some seasonal residents.
Challenges
Our church is located on the shore of Cape Cod Bay. Sea level rise requires our constant attention. Though very active in the past, our lay committee structure has atrophied. Increasing lay participation and re-establishing a functioning committee structure is a future challenge that the vestry has begun to address. Given the make-up of our parish, it is sometimes a struggle to maintain community that transcends geography. For more on our challenges, see our parish profile on our parish website, www.stmaryoftheharbor.org.
