St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Belfast is a small but vibrant faith community. Whether a cradle Episcopalian or new to the Church, all of us at St. Margaret’s are on a spiritual journey. We are looking for a Rector who will be a pastor, priest and teacher committed to nurturing a culture that invites parishioners and the wider community to explore and deepen our individual and collective understanding of what it means to be a Christian/person of faith in this place and this time.We seek a Rector …

  • who is a “doer” and will be an ambassador for St. Margaret’s in Waldo County – joining us in the Pride Parade, serving at the Food Cupboard, being active in the Greater Bay Area Ministerium and participating in ecumenical worship.
  • who will continue to nurture parishioners’ individual faith development.
  • who can help us explore how the tenets of our faith may be calling us to approach the serious issues confronting us today such as immigration, environmental stewardship and job creation.  Our hope is that will result in actions borne out of thoughtful consideration and always a willingness to engage in open communication.

Belfast is a true year-round community. There are a myriad of ways to participate in a broad array of activities. Like singing? There are numerous community choirs on the midcoast. A thespian? There are several local amateur theater groups. Belfast is a quirky and active town with many grassroots organizations, and we hope our new Rector will fall in love with this little city on Penobscot Bay and the many smaller rural towns that surround it and be a good neighbor as well as Rector.

The congregation has previously been served by full time rectors.  It will work closely with its new priest to find a rhythm that honors the part-time nature of this call, allows the Rector freedom to make full use of the time not committed to St. Margaret's, and simultaneously cares well for the congregation and the larger community.
