We are a warm and welcoming community with enthusiastic and heavily involved parishioners, dedicated strong lay leadership, and a well-loved Deacon. We are a faithful, grateful and hope-filled parish family that values inclusivity and mutual respect. We enjoy lively and engaging fellowship. Our generosity of time, talent, and treasure allows us to support multiple ministries, including a robust and thriving outreach program that supports local and global organizations. We are blessed with sound financial health. Our members appreciate our history yet are flexible and willing to adapt to change. We pride ourselves on maintaining our beautiful church, with its welcoming sanctuary, and large rectory situated on serene grounds.
As our church re-opens, we are challenged to rebuild and grow our community. We face uncertainty over who will return. We welcome back current members, engage with parishioners who choose to remain at home, and develop programs so people feel connected and involved. We also need to attract new parishioners, especially younger families who will be enthusiastic and active. Pre-COVID, we enjoyed robust and thriving Sunday School and Youth programs; we are challenged as we look to reignite them. Although finances are strong, we are heavily dependent on a nursery school for income. Lastly, our community needs to heal, both from the fragmentation of COVID and the feelings we experienced when our last priest retired.
St. John’s, located a few short miles from the ocean in Little Silver, NJ, seeks a leader whose role as our priest is their calling and passion. We look for someone who is actively involved and present in our parish and community. We seek a warm teacher and spiritual guide, a good listener to unite and heal our parish, who can compassionately encourage and enthusiastically engage our members. Our priest must be inclusive and available to all, and bring a fresh outlook to our parish that creates excitement and generates involvement. We look for an inspired homilist to combine scripture with everyday life and connect with our youngest and oldest members alike. With your leadership, we will build and grow St. John’s for the future.
