Description

Liturgical style and practice

Describe themselves as "a church with a broad liturgical style". Until fairly recently had a Rite I service at 8:00 and a Rite II service at 10:00, currently offering a single Rite II service at 10:00. Worship is led by organ music and a choir.

Strengths

Welcoming to worshippers from diverse Christian backgrounds, educated and lively congregation with many accomplished summer residents. Parishioners involved with many local outreach projects in partnership with other churches and lay organizations. Beautiful location on the coast of Maine with access to Acadia National Park and many other recreational opportunities.

Challenges

Aging population and declining membership.  Their newly settled rector became ill during the Coronavirus pandemic and eventually needed to resign due to ill health, which has been hard on the congregation and lay leadership.  They have benefitted from strong interim and long term supply clergy and are ready to welcome a new rector. Also, housing in the area can be expensive, so clergy might need to drive 30-45 minutes to find more affordable housing.
