Strengths

St. Bartholomew’s - The Little Church that Can

St. Bart’s is a church with a 200-year history that we are building upon and that propels us forward. We are located in a rapidly growing area adjacent to the “Research Triangle” and we actively seek opportunities to serve our community.

We have a strong reputation as a “feeding” community; we have served a Community Lunch every Thursday for 14 years, currently feeding an average of 175+ people each week. In August of 2021, we initiated a new ecumenical program as the leading partner in the Alliance Serving Chatham County, a collaboration between local churches and commercial enterprises. The Alliance volunteers prepare and cook food, vacuum seal and freeze it, and distribute it once a week. The Alliance distributes an average of 250 meals per week. Last year the number of meals served by the two ministries combined was 21,417; the total for 2023 is anticipated to be approximately 27,000 meals as we are now providing meals for the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and Public Schools in both Pittsboro and Siler City.

St. Bart’s is busy seven days a week. St. Bart’s played a founding role in three important Chatham County services: Chatham County Council on Aging, Chatham Outreach Alliance ( CORA food pantry ) and Habitat for Humanity. We continue to be active in all these ministries.
