Strengths
From their Search Team: We seek a priest who is a vibrant individual: possessing theological curiosity, a sense of humor, a kind heart and a warm and welcoming personality. We realize that most churches are in an era of transition as the pandemic has changed our idea of "normal" and many people have chosen to either not return to church or only do so online. We look forward to continuing to offer both virtual and in-person worship in order to address the needs of all members of our community.
Many of us raised in other spiritual or secular traditions have found a home in the Episcopal church because of its intellectual bent and open ideals, while simultaneously maintaining many of the age-old rituals of the Anglican faith. It is important to us that we continue to welcome friends, neighbors, and those from other (or no) faith traditions....
During our search time, we are fortunate that our laity and vestry are capable of taking care of the church, and we’re a pretty self-sufficient bunch. We do what needs to be done to keep the doors open and congregants engaged.
Challenges
This is a parish that, like many, is wondering about attracting younger families and youth. It will be necessary to hire a musician at some point soon (they have a beautiful organ).
Comments
This is a solid, faithful small parish community. Lake Geneva is a lovely and during the summer touristy town. This parish has had a full-time priest in the not-so-distant past, and was recently yoked (shared Rector) with another parish about 15 miles away. This parish found that arrangement very agreeable.
