Comments
Grace Episcopal Church in Yorktown, Virginia seeks a full-time Curate/Assistant who desires to learn and grow in their faith and ministry, has a passion for trying new things, and believes deeply in the ministry of forming disciples of Christ. The Curate/Assistant will work in close partnership with the Rector, Staff and members of the congregation in carrying out the ministry of Grace to the world around us and will be joining Grace at an exciting time as we deepen our commitment to our worship, formation, and service to the community.
Grace is a historic church in the village of Yorktown, Virginia, where the walls of the church have been a fixture in the community since 1697. While our history is an important factor in who we are, Grace is dedicated to learning more about the fullness of that history and sharing the depth and breadth of our story with those around us. To that end, we strive to be an open-minded group of people with a strong desire to follow Jesus and his way of love. Grace Day School, founded as a ministry of Grace in 1955, also calls our campus home and is essential to the fabric of our community. The Grace Day School serves children from ages two through kindergarten, enrolling anywhere from 30 to 50 students every school year.
In addition to sharing in the liturgical and pastoral life of Grace through preaching, teaching, worship planning, and pastoral care, the Curate/Assistant will work with the Rector to expand discipleship opportunities among the congregation and will serve as the primary pastoral leader for children, youth, young adults and their families. The Curate/Assistant, along with the Rector, will also provide chaplain support to the Grace Day School and will work with the Director of the School to plan chapel, build Episcopal identity, and promote a life of faith for the children, families and staff.
