Description

Strengths

St. Anselm's is a dynamic can-do congregation. They are willing to explore new avenues of church growth in depth and size. They have discovered a resilience and commitment to the future through the  experience if the pandemic that they did not know they had and are feeling a new surge of energy as a result.  They have a pre-school, St. Anselm's Academy, built as a primary community outreach,  attached to the church which has been engaged to assist the town in providing universal pre-k that is bringing some financial stability back to see them through the pandemic. It is a town filled with possibilities and the location on the North Shore of Long Island beings potential for both Winter and Summer congregations. St. Anselm's is also adjacent to institutions of higher learning and scientific exploration that adds to the richness of community intellectual  life. This community welcomes families of all kinds.

Challenges

The congregation experienced financial difficulties in the pandemic but are on the rebound. The congregation reflects the surrounding community that has people across the political spectrum. Despite there being a growing Latinx community in the town there has been no move yet to  reach out to these neighbors.
