The Southern Canon Missioner will lead the Mission Priorities of the Diocese of Bethlehem (1. Vibrant & stable congregations; 2. Racial justice & advocacy for most vulnerable; 3. Lay & Clergy formation; 4. Creating new faith communities; 5. Diocesan partnerships), focusing on approximately half of the parishes in the diocese.  The Southern Canon Missioner oversees the development of permeable and adaptive models to nurture the growth of new Christian Communities as well as support legacy Parishes by providing leadership support and strategic recruitment/placement of clergy.

The Canon Missioner also serves as rector of a parish as designated by the Bishop and supervises an Assistant Priest.
