Church of the Holy Spirit is an open, tolerant, and down-to-earth community. We are an inner-city church with a large cared for church building and two rectory homes. We have a small but joyful congregation that communicates honestly and that care for and respect each other and those outside of our walls. Our community has many established outreach ministries and great traditions but we are also open to and excited about exploring new and creative ways of being church. We have a large faithful group of seniors and a large choir. Church of the Holy Spirit creates an environment where everyone, even newcomers, soon feel like family. We are not just a “Sunday” Church.
Over the past 10 years our congregation has declined in numbers due to many factors. Due to the declining numbers we have fewer people in lay leadership rolls and very few children that regularly attend leading to us to close our Sunday School.
We have a very large historical building that is in fairly good condition with many new additions such as new heating systems throughout. We do, however, struggle to constantly maintain the building along with two rectories.
This church has enormous potential. The Diocese of Massachusetts is seeking a priest with redevelopment skills to become the next rector and all candidates will be required to undergo skills assessment for redevelopment.
Applications should be sent to the Rev. Canon Kelly O'Connell at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This is a short list search with the Bishop reviewing all application and forwarding 3-5 to the parish for consideration.
