Christ Church is a vibrant and healthy suburban parish outside of Rochester, New York. The congregation numbers about 1100 individuals with approximately 300 on Sundays during the program year. Christ Church has a strong music program, a large Sunday School (preK-12), and a well-attended adult formation program. We are known for traditional worship, inspiring music, and enlightened theology. We work to make our faith relevant to parishioners’ lives.
Though not a challenge per se, Christ Church recently went through a period of transition. It was a busy time, and they were pleased to call their Priest-in-Charge as their new Rector. The parish has weathered COVID well, and like all parishes is now settling in to the realities of hybrid worship, reframed ministries, and evolving identity as "church" in 2021.
We are seeking an Associate Priest who will collaborate with and support the Priest in Charge, the staff, and lay leaders. The Associate Priest will share in liturgical leadership, preaching, and pastoral care. The Associate Priest will be the primary clergy liaison to the Director of Children’s Ministry and will lead the Youth Group. Newly ordained persons are encouraged to apply.
We are seeking a person:
- With a passionate commitment to follow Jesus and to form disciples of all ages.
- With tolerance and sensitivity to diverse theological views.
- Is passionate about parish ministry.
- Is a strong preacher and communicator. Our community expects thoughtful and articulate sermons.
- Is a creative self-starter with organizational skills.
- Is welcoming, approachable and can relate to a wide range of people.
Christ Church will offer a competitive salary, full SECA Reimbursement (15.3%), full family health insurance, and pension.
To apply: Email a cover letter, OTM profile, references, and two sermons (preferably audio or video links) to the Rev. Ronald B. Young, Rector (firstname.lastname@example.org). If you have questions or you wish to have a conversation about the parish or position, please use that email address. The position is open until filled.
