Liturgical style and practice

Calvary Church offers three Sunday morning celebrations of the Eucharist using Rite II. They range from an intimate chapel service to a large service with verger, full procession, 30-voice adult choir, and the best of the Anglican choral tradition. On Sunday evenings, Calvary offers a Rite I Evensong or Eucharist, chanted and with incense. In the summer, the "main" service is an informal, outdoor garden service using the Enriching Our Worship liturgy.

Calvary Church is a vibrant, resource-sized parish, with a welcoming and inclusive congregation and a long commitment to serving its neighbors.

Calvary nurtures strong community partnerships with such organizations as the Tree of Life Synagogue, a preschool with 60 children (a third of whom were born outside the U.S.), and the Pittsburgh Penguins (through the team's diversity and equity program).  The congregation shares its facilities with over 30 partners in ministry.

Calvary is located in the most diverse part of Pittsburgh, near universities (e.g., Pitt, Carnegie Mellon), tech sector offices (e.g., Google, Duolingo), and numerous shops and restaurants.

Some of the city's most and least wealthy areas are within walking distance of Calvary, making it an interesting - sometimes challenging - context in which to do ministry.

The new Associate/Curate will lead Calvary's pastoral care, young adult ministry, and outreach and share in all priestly ministry with the Rector and Senior Associate.
