Beautiful church in downtown Raleigh with a history of faithful servants who seek to know and follow Jesus.  Full of active volunteers and a dedicated staff.

Challenges

Church of the Good Shepherd enjoys active volunteerism but struggles financially. We focus on the two components of stewardship: the spiritual practice of committing ourselves to God and the practical financial realities of running a large church organization and its many ministries.

Comments

Good Shepherd seeksa rector who will walk with us into the next decade. We seek a preacher who will use the Word of God to relate to our lives in an inspirational, conversational, and joyful manner, and help us grow the church by teaching us to welcome the stranger in our midst. We seek a rector who will provide pastoral care to our congregation of disparate ages, political & sexual orientations, income levels, and faith backgrounds. We especially desire someone who will provide active involvement in ministries to children and youth, as well as oversight of the administrative staff. The ideal rector will lead by personal engagement, inspiring rather than dictating in an environment under financial pressure. Our youth in particular look for a leader who is loyal, accepting, and able to connect with them on a personal level with a sense of humor.
