St. Stephen’s is a welcoming, inclusive congregation. We are a close-knit community with strong lay leadership and a deep desire to renew and expand our spiritual life. This desire is shown clearly in our Outreach and Fellowship ministries. The enthusiasm filters down to our youth, a fundamental part of St. Stephen's. From “Angels” to Adults, all enjoy helping with various outreach projects and attending our many fellowship events. We are also very proud of our food cupboard. Run by volunteers, and operating for over 40 years, we distribute emergency food bags to approximately 65 local families each month.
St. Stephen’s size and budget severely limit staffing. With a part-time organist and secretary our full-time rector is responsible for many administrative tasks. In the past, administrative weaknesses have had a negative impact on our spiritual and physical growth. We face the challenge of finding a rector who fulfills the spiritual leadership we crave while also being a good administrator. We also have had difficulty growing our congregation. This is due, in part, to the issues of growth faced by all churches, but we also have the added challenge of existing in a community that is overwhelmingly Roman Catholic.
