Strengths

St. Matthew's is known as one of our strongest social-justice parishes in New Hampshire.  Lay leadership is strong and well-equipped for the future with a long-range strategic plan in place.  The Rector of 31 years retired in June, 2017, followed by a capable Interim Rector whose gifts of healing and calling forth gifts of the laity are building great resilience during the transition.    St. Matthew's is known for their involvement in the broader community issues of Goffstown, NH as well as those on state and national levels.  It is poised for growth and is highly respected for its host of ministries that serve the most vulnerable and poor in the area.

This is a very hospitable, welcoming parish to newcomers.  Almost all of the parishioners are engaged in active ministry!

Challenges

One of the challenges for the new Rector will be planning for a Capital Campaign to address the needs of the church and parish hall.  Much of the focus in the tenure of the retired Rector was on ministries; now the church is realizing the extent of deferred maintenance facing them. This is a capable group of true disciples, eager to build a future with a new Rector that will better align their space with their mission.
