We have a close-knit community of people who deeply love the parish and support it with an amazing amount of their time and resources. Our historic role in the West Village, in ministry to the LGBT community, and in supporting diocesan and church initiatives has developed significant goodwill for our parish within the church and the community. We have a strong financial base in our endowment, and our buildings are well-maintained and capable of supporting multiple vibrant ministries.
Our congregation is aging, and our attendance has declined meaningfully over the past ten years. The closure of a major hospital, St. Vincent’s, eliminated one of our more important ministries, and demographic changes in the neighborhood have pushed out many of those to whom we formerly ministered. Our ministries all depend on a relatively small number of especially active volunteers, and we need significant guidance in defining our mission and discerning our calling going forward. Our institutional relationships within the local community have diminished over recent years and need to be re-established.
