Members participate in a broad array of community outreach ministries, including the local food bank, local jail ministry, shoe boxes for overseas, and Angel Tree for needy families. Members are very integrated into the community and are seen as a presence in Halifax. The congregation has an exceptionally appealing physical plant that is in very good condition. They are debt-free. Currently the church is served by an effective interim and has in place an excellent search committee. They are actively accepting names.
St. John’s is located in the town of Halifax, which is the county seat for Halifax County, a rural county with a population of approximately 35,000 people. The town has a population of about 1,500. It is a place where many feel no need to lock their doors.
St. John’s is strongly motivated to move forward. Their current Interim Rector finds the congregation to be healthy and faithful.
