Strengths

St. Francis, set in a small town on a rural peninsula in mid-coast Maine, is a powerhouse of worship, service and learning. Blue Hill is a famously idyllic place to visit and vacation in the summer time. It’s also a thriving year round center for those who choose or were born to the more rigorous beauty of the other nine months. St. Francis is a key participant in all the seasons of local life; worship on Sunday mornings is well-attended and lively, and the congregation participates in social outreach throughout the area. The congregation has a particular focus on learning and teaching: it initiated and hosted the Down East Spiritual Life Conference (see details in their OTM Portfolio, available at the links below) several times, and looks forward to working with a new Rector to build on that foundation. St. Francis is a great place; its people seek and will warmly support a priest looking to do great ministry in concert with them.
