This church had a debt of half a million dollars in 2014 and with matching gifts from the Diocese they are mortgage free. They did this capital campaign on their own without clergy leadership.
A strength is in pastoral care ministry. For years they were the Community of Hope (pastoral care training) site and opened this training up to the wider community and Diocese. They do have strong pastoral care gifts and ministries.
Another area to build on is education for children and youth. Good leaders trained in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and strong support for youth ministry.
- The second service is a Rite II projected on the wall with a praise band. The numbers have been declining as well as the caliber of the musicians. What is the purpose of this service?
- A refugee program was important a number of years ago and they have several Burmese/Karin families still attending. They planted a large garden with plans of developing this ministry in the local Karin community but it simply stayed as a garden for those attending.
- Has had strong Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program and youth activities but no clear vision presently.
St. Bart’s is located in the City of Pewaukee in the great state of Wisconsin. Pewaukee is a growing community in the “Lake Country” area. Although it is a city, there remains a country feel…just 6 minutes away from Pewaukee Lake, a popular recreational lake. Located in the heart of Waukesha County, our church is a short drive to Waukesha, the largest city of the county and site of the county government.
For more information about Pewaukee see the website for the City of Pewaukee and for more about Waukesha County see the Visit Waukesha County website. Waukesha County is renowned for excellent schools. Pewaukee is home to a K-12 school district and the main campus for Waukesha County Technical College. Carroll University and University of Wisconsin – Waukesha are both about 5 miles from St. Bart’s.
