Grace is Family sized parish located in Queens and has a membership that loves their parish. Grace is committed to renewing their life together and seeking a new growth cycle. They are a can-do parish with a collegial Vestry. Grace has significant community outreach with a Food Pantry, senior community service, and a thrift shop all of which builds their community connections. Located near the center of the Whitestone community and has great potential. The congregation is aging, but lives in an area of Queens that is turning over with many families moving in. The Church and Rectory are well maintained and a source of pride.
Grace Church has a significant number of recent former Roman Catholics and Faith formation in the Episcopal tradition will be necessary. They are committed to a balanced budget but are in need of significant stewardship education. As an aging congregation they are longing for younger families and the tight knit nature of the community makes it somewhat difficult. Rethinking invitation, welcome and connection will be primary work.
