Grace Episcopal Church in Jefferson City, Missouri, has long had a faith filled presence in mid-Missouri. With it's prominent down-town Jefferson City location, Grace is set in the middle of the active and quaint State Capital, an often bustling center, home to state agencies, organizations, and periodic home to state legislators. The people of Grace are diverse, active, and caring. They are interested in mission and outreach, and seek to strengthen their connection to the city, county, and region. Along with the State Government, Jefferson City is home to Lincoln University, an historically black, land-grant university. Many lay leaders of Grace are faculty and administration at Lincoln.
Grace is home to a broad population of Episcopalians from throughout the region. At it's core, this dynamic results in many different viewpoints in the congregation. Because of the diversity of cultures and views, it has been common practice to avoid controversial subjects rather than dealing with them through thoughtful and deliberate conversation and sharing. The interim, along with the leadership of Grace, are fully aware of this dynamic and are approaching these challenges in encouraging ways.
