Strengths
From parish materials:
-
- We have many great people who are committed to living out our mission in this community;
- We are known as a welcoming community and those who come tend to stay and attendance at each service has increased;
- The desire and energy to give of ourselves;
- Our diversity;
- Our commitment to outreach is a significant part of our Mission and Ministry through our hosting numerous AA groups, CFA participation, GreenFaith participation, Holley Center North Porch and local outreach opportunities;
- Multi-cultural/Multi-lingual congregation (English, Korean and others) and having everyone inclusive and engaged;
- With Fr. Cho involvement and his translation, Korean congregation is now understanding the sermon given on Sundays. This will promote more Korean congregation to join;
- Annual First Responder Blessing luncheon and Animal Blessing to invite community to church;
- Great location for Korean-speaking congregation to grow if bilingual Priest-in-charge comes;
- Wednesday morning Eucharist and discussion group;
- Wednesday evening Bible Study; and
- Music ministry.
Challenges
From parish materials:
- Not having a Priest, preferably bilingual (English and Korean), to lead our congregation to inspire and share in this ministry;
- Need better charismatic and evangelistic training;
- Lack of adequate advertising and presence on social media;
- Limited funds for Mission and Ministry and outreach due to the need to maintain financial stability;
- Lack of attendance on Sunday Services compared to registered members;
- Need to visit or contact church members not attending for a long period and find out the reasons and a way to welcome these back to church again;
- Need to bring younger members and families with young children;
- need to have more events and activities to bring people in (Jazz, Gospel, adult choir, group trips to NYC events, Adult classes, Young Adult activity, Talent show, etc);
- youth ministry, retreat for young adults, Summer Bible Camp for children;
- volunteers for church events;
- identifying members’ gifts and talents; and
- find ways to reduce expenses as much as possible so resources can be used toward to church growth and development and a Priest-in-charge.
