Christ Church, Port Tobacco and Christ Church, Wayside are two partner parishes in the southern region of the diocese seeking a rector. The parishes have shared a rector successfully for the past three years and want to continue the arrangement. They need a priest who can honor the culture of each place and also encourage joint outreach, mission, and ministry initiatives. Combined ASA is approximately 125 at three Sunday services with the support of a deacon.
Both parishes experienced growth and vibrancy with the shared relationship successfully led by a priest who, after three years of good ministry, has gone to another call in the Diocese of Washington. The parishes are challenged to continue the good work begun, while charting a joint future together between very disparate parishes.
The parishes hope that the next rector will live near the parishes in Charles County, MD. They seek to expand membership, outreach, music programs, and ministries catering to families and children.
