Strengths

We are seeking a priest who will collaborate with her or his clergy colleagues, and our Vestry in implementing our vision for ministry. While sharing pastoral care and worship responsibilities with the Dean and other Canons, she or he will develop multigenerational ministry in the the Hispanic community, with a vision to include second generation and millennial Hispanics. He or she will work to strengthen the connection between our non-Hispanic English speakers and our Spanish speakers and cultures of the cathedral community.

We hope to call a priest who:

  • is fully bicultural and able to function bilingually in worship and ministry,
  •  finds joy in growing the capacity of others to lead and to engage in ministry,
  • has demonstrated the ability to build presence, communities, and networks

among people inside and outside traditional church settings,

  • can help launch and sustain Christian communities of learning, prayer and

    service,

  • has a heart for and commitment to social justice and immigration rights

    advocacy

  • has a comfort with working in and learning from diverse cultures,
  • has experience in networking, evangelism, or community organizing,
  • is an engaging preacher and teacher, able to help both members and non-members, the churched and unchurched, find theological and spiritual meaning in their daily living and in work with and among the poor as an encounter with the living Christ, is comfortable working in a non-traditional“office”setting, where the“office” is our daily prayers in the Cathedral and our work in the community around us, spiritually grounded in a passion for the Good News of Jesus Christ and has a disciplined life of prayer
  • appreciates our musical life
  • is experienced in developing "win-win" connections among groups with differing opinions
  • has a mature pastoral presence
  • is energetic and takes initiative
  • is friendly with a good sense of humor
  • is intellectually curious
  • embraces our vision of one church
