Strong core group that shares leadership and decision-making
Willing to try new things - open and adaptable spirit
Eager to have a priest to help them explore identity as a stand-alone congregation (has been part of a consortium for many years)
Passion for engagement in local community
The last two years have been challenging (departure of their priest, fire that led to complete rebuild, decline in Sunday attendance through fire recovery) but this congregation has heart and a strong desire to be church in their community.
From their profile:
Are you looking for a parish to call your home? We are seeking a priest who wants to join our family.
Are you a flexible down to earth person with a good sense of humor? We are a spontaneous congregation that likes to laugh at ourselves.
Do you need proximity to a major metropolitan city?We are only 89 miles from the Windy City.
Are you willing to be the spiritual leader of a small, competent, and enthusiastic parish? We are looking for someone to lead us and help us to grow.
Are you looking for classic gothic Midwest church in the heart of central Illinois? We are Christ Episcopal Church Ottawa, Illinois.
Christ Church is a small congregation with a lot of heart and passion. They have emerged from a challenging two years, and are ready to call a priest to join them in ministry.
Ottawa is an hour and a half south-west of Chicago, located in the valley where the Fox and Illinois rivers meet. The area is well known for outdoors amenities (Starved Rock State Park is in Ottawa.) The town of Ottawa has undergone significant renovation and renewal.
This is great opportunity for a part-time priest.
