St. George’s Church, Pungoteague and St. James’ Church, Accomac constitute The Churches of St. George Parish on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. They share a rector and have undergone a significant period of stability and growth in recent years, and the establishment of some very creative outreach ministry to migrant workers in the area.
Their long-standing shared relationship presents challenges because of the unique character of each parish. This situation demands extra leadership attention and a rector with the ability to balance the qualities of each parish for the greater good of the total ministry.
The Churches of St. George Parish is the founding location for the Latino ministries in the diocese. These parishes continue to be the operational location for these year-round ministries at this time.
